The witch behind witch & bee…

Elli Bee

Hello, friend! My name is Elli Bee, and I am... somehow… an artist. I got here in a very roundabout way — yet, despite the many trials and tribulations and unexpected paths it took to get here, I feel as though there was always this artist deep down inside me waiting for a chance to flourish.

So here I am, flourishing, despite it all. I am a Georgia Peach living in the Pacific Northwest, and I love the moodiness of the weather, and the trees, and the mountains, and the snow. This state has really captured my heart and you will likely see that reflected in my art.

When I started drawing the designs and illustrations that would become witch & bee, I was using my art as a form of healing. When all I felt was grief and loss, betrayal and isolation, I used art to feel something else — a sliver of confidence, a whisper that said “You are worth more than this” and I started to believe it. And then I found joy, and then freedom. It was a transmutation. It was like magic.

I hope that I can share that magic with you. 💖

About me:

I am an avid self-taught crafter — I knit, sew, weave, crochet, paint, build things out of wood, embroider — you name it, and I’ve probably dabbled in it.

Sometimes, it feels like I’ve always been more of an observer of the world, than a participant, but I’m hoping to change that — I deserve to participate on my terms, when and how I want to, and it’s been that freedom to have that choice back in my hands that inspires me now. I don’t hide away in corners anymore… reading about the world, watching it pass me by or waiting for something to happen.

I happened. I am happening.

Now I sketch (or knit) by rivers, in the woods perched on mossy stumps, or in public parks, or wherever else I please. And I have this haven to share my art with you. Thank you, my friends, for being on this journey with me.

In college, Elli Bee traded custom knit hat orders for her favorite latte order:

16 oz vanilla latte with coconut milk. *

*Knitting was great for relieving stress, and the cost of a latte was nearly equivalent to the cost of knitting one hat, and ya girl needed her caffeine. 😂
